Halo 5: Guardians Update: Cameo of UFC Champ, New HUDs and Teen Rating

By

As Halo 5: Guardians is nearing its release on October 27th for Xbox One, developments are weighing in. From a UFC Champ's cameo role, new HUDs to having a Teen rating; these are just some of the updates with regard to the first-person game developed by 343 Industries.

This time around, it's UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum who will be making a cameo role in Halo 5: Guardians. Incidentally, the 38-year-old Brazilian is a big fan of the game. This news was announced by Microsoft during the Gamescom.

As shared by a Microsoft spokesperson to Bloodyellow, "Fabricio Werdum makes a small cameo appearance in Halo 5: Guardians. He's a big fan of Halo and we're big fans of his, so it's always fun when these kinds of things work out."

To either excite or appease fans of the game, the martial artist's stint is described as "(It's) a bit of an Easter egg though, so you'll have to really be looking for it." It is expected that he will be featured as a non-player character (NPC).

Details regarding the new character-specific Heads-Up-Displays (HUDs) were explained by 343 in a community page of Halo. The HUD is apparently related to each of the eight character's perspectives, identity, and personality.

Head-on the team had challenges on how to convey the differences between characters, since Halo 5: Guardians is a first-person video game. "Each character's HUD has been painstakingly designed by our artists to reflect the visual language of that particular Spartan. So Locke's HUD has aggressive lines that follow the curvature of his visor while Linda's enhanced optics are represented in muted tones that reflect her armor palette."

Surprisingly this year, Halo 5 had been rated T for Teens by the ESRB, the main US game classification body. According to the Christian Post, this had been the first for the Halo series, as the game usually gets below M or Mature rating. With a T rating, but with a description of blood, mild language and violence from the classification board, VG 24/7 said that it was quite confusing. It would mean that either the developers of Halo 5 changed the game or the ESRB's policies and restrictions had softened.

Loyal players of Halo would add these notes to their list of the game's developments, as it is wrapping up for its release in October. The release for other platforms is still indefinite.
