Experian Plc sells its market research services unit

The global information services company, Experian Plc has announced Monday that it has agreed to sell off its market research services. This is the SMR business of Sinotrust International Information & Consulting (Beijing) Co in China to Wausau Paper Corp or WPP.

The sale and transfer is subject to regulatory approval and other completion conditions.

Experian said that the sale of SMR would further improve the focus of Experian Marketing Services for the Asia Pacific region. SMR's main activities are related to providing customer market research for its automotive clientele.

Experian has noted that it would continue its focus on increasing multi-channel marketing activities in China as well as retention of Sinotrust China's business information services. For the year ending 31 March 2013, the revenues of SMR reached US$41 million or RMB 255 million.

Experian is listed on the London Stock Exchange under the acronym 'EXPN' and is also a member of the FTSE 100 index. Aside from business information services, the company helps businesses manage credit risk, avoid fraud and automate decision making as well as check their credit report and credit score.
