Twitter Acquires Lucky Sort

By

Twitter CEO Noah Pepper recently announced the acquisition of Lucky Sort in order to boost its ad sales and reporting functionality. Lucky Sort was in the midst of completing a visualization and data navigation named Topic Watch.

The program is able to review real time patterns in streams of data and was the product of capital funding from Neu Venture Capital worth US$500,000 back in 2012. While the startup operated under the radar, the work it has been doing became news especially when it raised seed funds from many 'large data' experts such as Dr. Norman Packard, the chaos theory physicist.

How the data is to be used by Twitter, Pepper gave an idea by saying, "Several of us will be moving to San Franciscto to join Twitter's revenue engineering department, so if you're in the neighborhood and want to talk about text mining or data visualization, give us a shout."

Twitter has been expanding its ad tool functionality in the past few months, with new options for keyword targeting and tools for interest, platform, fan and gender focusing on Twitter. This is key as the social media network is preparing for its possible IPO this year.
