Matt Damon's Jason Bourne is set to come back in the upcoming Bourne 5, and rumors have surfaced regarding a possible crossover with Jeremy Renner's Aaron Cross. Casting for the film is in the works, with an Oscar winner actor as the latest addition.
Paul Greengrass is back to direct the fifth instalment in the Bourne franchise, with Matt Damon to reprise his role as Jason Bourne. The upcoming film will be the fourth time for Damon to star in film, after he and Greengrass sat out in the 2012 film The Bourne Legacy that had Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross as the star.
As reported by Los Angeles Film, speculations have surfaced about a possible crossover between the two main characters. But according to producer Frank Marshall, a collaboration might not happen soon since the characters are heading different paths in the story. However, he also added that it might happen in the near future.
Meanwhile, along with Greengrass and Damon, Julia Stiles is also set to reprise her role as Nicky Parsons. According to Movie Web, it was hinted in The Bourne Ultimatum that Nicky Parsons and Jason Bourne may have had a relationship before his amnesia.
Also, aside from Damon and Stiles, the movie also has actors Alicia Vikander, and the latest addition, Tommy Lee Jones, onboard. According to Den of Geek, Vikander and Jones' roles have not been confirmed yet, but reports suggest that Jones might play the role of a superior officer in the CIA.
According to Marshall, they are taking their time in producing the film compared to how they did in the second and third film. "That was actually number two and number three, so that's why we have spent a long time on the script development and pre-production and that's all going very well and we're not gonna have a race to the finish line. It's going to hopefully be a slow walk this time," he said.
Details are still scarce bur more will be revealed in the coming months. Bourne 5 is set to hit theaters on July 29, 2016.
