Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 To Be Released After 13 Years, New Graphic Design Explained

By

After a 13-year hiatus from the pro-skating arena, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is back. Developer Robomodo and Disruptive Games, in cooperation with publisher Activision, are doing some wrap-up as the game is scheduled to be released in September. Skaters and skating fans alike should watch out for a new era of skating in Pro Skater 5.

According to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 website, "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 offers a fresh take on combo-driven skateboarding, the most advanced Pro Skater online multiplayer experience in a Tony Hawk game, and a state-of-the-art skatepark builder. Ride, build, and repeat!"

New and classic features are also specified in the site. Players who still want to pull off signature Pro Skater moves and extended trick combinations can play the Classic Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Gameplay.

Described also in Cross Map is another game feature called the Seamless Online Multiplayer. Players can take their shredding sessions to another level as they can "jump in and out of over 80 unique missions across 8 environments." Those who have their own visions about how their own park should look like now have a chance to "'create and share the sickest skate parks using over 250 obstacles and let loose on the most twisted designs from the community."

There had been some err comments on why sudden changes in the visual style of the game had been made just weeks away from its release. Speculations that the decision was done in part because of the negative reaction on its original graphic design was explained by Robomodo CEO Josh Tsui.

According to Tsui, "We've always been confident in the look we were going for, but it took a while to ensure we could maintain the frame rate with this style." He added, "It was essential that the game run at 60fps at 1080p, even with 20 people skating online in the same session. We've achieved that, so now fans are seeing a better-looking game."

Simply put, these changes were done not because fans were not that impressed about the original look, but that they want Pro Skater fans to enjoy the game at its maximum level - making 20 people at a time skate online, for example.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on September 29; and will be available on PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 10.
