What is new in Android? Google has unveiled Android 6.0 marshmallow on Google I/O conference where Android M developer preview is also available for alternative download.

Lately, there are reports about the availability of Android 6.0 Marshmallow to roll out for some particular devices even though Android 5.1 Lollipop is freshly released over the air update, and freshly debuted to various smartphone handsets.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow have already existed in the time of latest phase of Lollipop. Recently, Google announced to the world for the first time in Google I/O conference the real sweet-treat signature of 'M' in Android.

They have speculated it as milkshake, muffin, and munchkins. The battle of speculation has ended when the android statue in Google campus spotted embracing the fluffy-candy marshmallow. The statue claims as the huge confirmation for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Marshmallow has been officially declared as the latest Android OS, giving it the model name of Android 6.0, the successor of Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, report says that the release of latest OS is part of final developer preview program which means the OTA updates are only limited to the particular devices.

Moreover, the stock firmware of Android 6.0 Marshmallow is available for Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player via Google's Android developer page. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring the interesting feature and innovative changes that are modified from the previous version. Android M features a native fingerprint scanner support, comprehensive app permission, USB Type-C Support, Now on Tap, and the battery saving feature called "Doze".

Along with the official news unveiled by Google, several sites like Android Beat has posted the guidelines and steps of updating your OS in Nexus device to Android 6.0 developer preview 3. Nexus device users should receive the OTA update any time after its official announcement. Users may also alternatively download the stock firmware, if they can't wait the arrival of OTA and flash their system.

This little leap of progression should draw closer to the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow that should be available for general devices. Probably, this will happen in fall season along with the upcoming Nexus model.
