Dnata, the Emirates airline services arm has purchased Air-France KLM's shareholdings in a joint venture catering business in Italy. This purchase was announced by Dnata through a statement.
The company is Servair Airchef, which is one of the units in Chef Italia Group was owned jointly by Dnata subsidiary Alpha and Servair, the food unit of Air France.
The statement did not disclose the financial details of the deal.
Dnata has been on an acquiring spree in the past couple of years. Amongst its purchases were stakeholdings in in flight catering firms namely Alpha Flight Group, Wings Inflight Service of South Africa and En Route International.
Servair is based in Italy and has a standing presence in 23 airports, amongst them Milan, Rome and Venice. It has in its employ around 700 people and has the daily production capacity of 40,000 meals.
Many airline companies have also looking to divest themselves of their catering businesses in order to increase their margins.
