Apple Forces All Users to Upgrade to iOS 8.4.1, Downgrade to iOS 8.4 No Longer Possible

By

Apple's previous iOS 8.4 operating system is no longer available for download forcing all users of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to upgrade from 8.4 to iOS 8.4.1 whether they like it or not. While you are already having iOS 8.4.1 downgrading to iOS 8.4 is no longer possible.

Apple began rolling out the iOS 8.4.1 update to all particular devices since last week carrying with it a host of bug fixes for Beats 1 Radio and Apple Music. iOS 8.4.1 or Jailbreak upgrade is also good for over three dozens of fixes patching up 40 vulnerabilities and exploits.

Unlike previous downgrades, using Cydia, a tool for reverting to old stock firmware, is no longer useful as well.

However, for some who have upgraded to the latest software, downgrade is now impossible since Apple has cut ties with the old OS. Although for those who would not want to upgrade to 8.4.1 and opt to stay with 8.4 it is not too far that your device will updated very soon.

iOS 8.4.1 was first released last August 13. At the HackPwn 2015 Convention, a Chinese hacker team dubbed Pangu demonstrated the iOS 8.4.1 jailbreak on an iPhone 6 while a public version is not available for now. With this, it is also possible that they could be breaking in Apple's upcoming software updates as well.

Many reports look into the possibility as well that Apple might be using the iOS 8.4.1 update a jump-off point for users to proceed to iOS9. However, this has not been confirmed by Apple as for now.

iOS 8.4.1 is 50 MB is size and available via over-the-air update. You can manually check the phone update by going to Settings > About device or through iTunes.

For iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5, iPad Air 2, iPad Air & iPad Mini 2, and other devices, there are improvements to battery performance, connectivity of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE and NFC, and user interface brought by the latest upgrade.
