Capcom is yet to announce the official release date for Resident Evil 7 and fans demand to have darker themes similar to other pevious titles in the franchise prior to RE 6. Meanwhile, producer Michiteru Okabe has dished the core gameplay details for the next main title to the series which is highly speculated to release this coming October.
In his interview with US games magazine Game Informer, Okabe stated that based on the fan's input on the 6th game demands a Resident Evil 7 to feature darker themes seen in predecessor games.
"I think one thing that's become really clear is what people want out of the Resident Evil series is survival horror first and foremost," Okabe explained. "They want that to be the core of the gameplay. I think what we really need to do is take a serious look at what makes the series itself.
He added saying, "Look at all the constituent parts-if resource management is important to survival horror, then why is it important, what does it mean, and what do these varying elements mean to the franchise? "How can we then take that and work with modern technology?"
Okabe also said that Capcom expressed interest in exploring some more with Resident Evil 7 format and understood the preceding titles of the franchise a mechanism to offering survival horror experience.
"I think the big numbered titles are where we try the big sort of experiments, bold new things," Okabe remarked. We see what sticks, and continue to refine those ideas. I think with the spin-off series we have the opportunity to do something a little different."
