The latest Square Enix role-playing game, "Dragon Quest 11" will be released no later than May 2016 and will be available for offline play for Sony's PlayStation 4, Nintendo's 3DS, and hopefully including the upcoming NX.
Square Enix has teased fans with yet another revelation for this role playing game. While everyone has been hyped up about the impending release, the Japanese company confirmed that the eleventh installment of the "Dragon Quest" series will be out soon. In fact, the company has already set a deadline for the launch. The Asahi Shimbun reported on Monday, August 24, that the upcoming game will be ready for release no later than May 2017.
Aside from the exciting news, Square Enix intends to celebrate the series' 30th anniversary with a twist - "Dragon Quest 11" will be available for offline play for both handheld and home consoles. "We want people to play it," series creator and video game designer Yuji Horii said. "We are making the most of the characteristics of each gaming machine."
Unlike the "Dragon Quest 10," the upcoming game will be played offline for PS4 and 3DS. More so, it was previously mentioned that Square Enix managed to create different versions for the different consoles to highlight the platforms' strong points. According to Dual Shockers, the PS4 version is mainly developed on the Unreal Engine 4 to utilize console power, while the 3DS version features both 3D gameplay and 2D maps in the device's dual screens.
But aside from the existing platforms, Engadget reported that the company is now "considering" the possibility of featuring the game in Nintendo's upcoming "next-generation" console, the Nintendo NX. Reports claim that with the existing demands for the upcoming hybrid platform, "Dragon Quest 11" might be one of the first games to be featured in the Nintendo NX.
In two years time, "Dragon Quest 11" will be playable offline for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS for fans to enjoy.
