"Pretty Little Liars" Season 7 is anticipated by a lot of fans but just recently, those who love the show became furious over a tweet that was deemed to be transphobic. According to the tweet, they referred to the show's villain, Charlotte, a transgender, as he, she and it.
The photo that was tweeted by the show was a scene from "Pretty Little Liars" Season 6 Episode 7 showing Alison DiLaurentis. However, the photo was deleted afterwards as the flashback from the fan was overwhelming, Seventeen magazine shared. The full caption was "He. She. It. Charlotte. #PrettyLittleLiars" and it was reported to be a clue for the show's season 7.
Just a backtrack, Charles is CeCe, the brother of Alison, and the season finale of the series was able to reveal that she is A. Fans of the show pointed out that the word "it" was very offensive especially to those who are really transgender, Hollywood Life reported.
In a report by Flavor Wire, "Pretty Little Liars" creator I. Marlene King noted that the show's decision to make A a transgender was to note that Charles came from a very crazy family. Charles is the one who tortured the four protagonists of the show as soon as Season 6 started. King added, "Crazy runs in the family, I say, and it just so happens that this person, I think, suffered some tragic consequences of a crazy family, but having nothing to do with [being] transgender." King added that the show might have another season after season 7 as fans are asking for it and they are open to the possibility.
As for the reaction of the fans that the villain is a transgender, fans are not one hundred percent happy about it as many were happy with the plot twist while others felt offended.
The ABC family is yet to comment on the issue as the network has always been very careful in dealing with LGBT-related issues.
