Polar System Launched by Summit Investments

Summit Midstream Partners, LLC announced today that the operations of the Polar Crude Oil and Water Gathering System ("Polar System") in the Bakken Shale Play in Williams County, North Dakota have commenced near full capacity.

Summit Midstream is a privately owned company that owns and manages the general partner of Summit Midstream Partners, LP. The Polar System is designed to collect 50,000 barrels of crude oil daily and 25,000 barrels of water daily from Three Forks and Bakken shale formations in North Dakota. The Polar System comprises of an estimated 35 miles of water collection pipeline and 50 miles of crude oil collection pipeline.

The crude oil collected on the Polar System is brought to the COLT Hub Terminal in Epping, North Dakota under a long-standing fee-based gathering agreement. Kodiak Oil & Gas Corp. is the long-term client of Polar System.

According to President and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Investment, "The start-up of the Polar System is a key milestone for Summit as it diversifies our service offering and provides much needed gathering infrastructure in the region. We are excited about the potential of the Polar System given its strategic location in one of the largest and fastest growing crude oil basins in the United States."
