She wasn't in the lineup of the performers, but decided to grace the stage with her moves at the last minute. The singer made her appearance at day two of the music festival and joined Flume onstage during his remix of her song "Tennis Court."
Lorde wasn't performing at the FYF Fest, but the 18-year-old singer slash songwriter made an amusing appearance on the day two of the music festival Sunday night. She invaded the stage and decided to dance goofily along to Flume's remix of her hit song, "Tennis Court."
The appearance was a surprise for both Lorde and Flume as well as the audience, as the singer admitted in an Instagram post that she snuck onstage after being "peer pressured" while watching her friend's set. "Basically he played his awesome tennis court remix and i kinda got peer pressured into sneaking up onstage and surprising him for a dance party in front of 20,000 people lol," she wrote. "He had no idea it was happening, i decided to go up literally 20 seconds before i did. and it was FUN being onstage at a festival again having a silly dance!!" She finished her message with "luv u harley" and some pink love hearts.
Lorde that wasn't the only star to show up unannounced at FYF Fest. Just the day before Lorde's impromptu dance party, Billboard reported that Rihanna also made an unexpected cameo appearance, joining Kanye West for some thrilling performances of "FourFiveSeconds" and "All of the Lights." Other artists playing at the music fest with West also included Morrissey, FKA Twigs, Solange Knowles, Bloc Party, Run the Jewels and Chet Faker.
A fan of both artists also filmed the video of Lorde's dance party on stage with Flume. Rachel Cain tweeted, "lorde and flume casually gettin down to tennis courts #fyf". And many of their supporters are said to be hoping that this hype will be enough to send them back into the studio since it's been far too long since they have collaborated in a song.
According to NME, Lorde is currently working on her second album. She described it in an interview as "exciting, scary" and inspired by Robyn. The New Zealand singer released her debut album "Pure Heroine" in 2013, with her producer and co-writer Joel Little stating that the singer was "trying new things" for her next album.
On the other hand, music fans were very overjoyed to see these Australian and New Zealand music artists getting down together on stage since Flume and Lorde exchanged cute messages on social media. Meanwhile, Lorde is pretty busy with her tight schedule. She will also appear on the new Disclosure album. The electronic duo's second album 'Caracal' will be released in September.
