Barely one week before the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, experts have been discussing their views on the conflict between Konami and its creator Hideo Kojima. They reveal their thoughts on the game series as Kojima says that his biggest failure was Metal Gear Solid.
Washington Post has published an article most recently based on the reviewer's attendance at an event which is hosted by Konami. "It's my biggest failure and my biggest success," says the review quoting IGN on Kojima's reflection on 25 years of Metal Gear Solid.
Although he made significant numbers of work, it's the Metal Gear game series that has defined his career. Despite this, the report commented that the series has drawn him back most of the time against his will just to meet the demands of fans and his former employer, Konami.
The said review also tackled the game environment and character Quiet whom he describes,"...is dressed in ripped nylons, a leather thong, and bikini top. In almost every scene she appears, the camera hovers on her breasts, buttocks or crotch as often as it focuses on her face." He later concludes that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is totality of shared history between the designer and players.
Erik Kain of Forbes has also discussed the effect of conflict between Kojima and publisher Konami which might dangerously fall into some kind of a "hero worship." He shared his views on the fans' bitterness toward Konami over Kojima's departure, the removal of his name from the marketing materials, the cancelling of Silent Hills, and Konami's decision "to essentially abandon console gaming in favor of mobile and other business interests."
Kain is troubled on the possibility that the gamers might boycott Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain because of how Konami treat Kojima, which in the end, will be too much of celebrity or hero worship and ignores the possibility that there could be two sides to this story, Konami's side being ignored.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1, 2015 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC/Steam.
