The creator of the Android operating system, Google Inc., is also contemplating on acquiring the free mobile navigation application, Waze Inc. The entry of Google in the bidding may result to a budding bidding war with Facebook Inc., related by sources knowledgeable of the matter to Bloomberg News. According to one of the sources who requested anonymity since the discussions were private, Waze is already reviewing tendered offers from numerous interested buyers. It is eyeing to gain a revenue of over US$1 billion from the sale, said Bloomberg.
Facebook Inc has already conducted discussions to acquire Waze with an offer of as much as US$1 billion, based on what two of the sources knowledgeable of the matter said in the early part of this month. Other interested parties including Google, made advances to Waze after learning of Facebook's interest. Bloomberg disclosed that no deal has been reached with any of the bidders. There are possibilities that Waze, founded in 2008 in Israel with headquarters at Palo Alto, California, may later on decide to remain independent.
