LG devices LG G3 and LG G4 could reportedly skip the update Lollipop 5.1.1 and will upgrade straight to the newest Android 6.0 Marshmallow instead. However, the LG G2 may not obtain the latest update at all.
According to Tech times, the newest OS version of Google was said announced by the Company during its I/O 2015 conference, presenting the operating system as Android M. It is stated that the Company has recently revealed the official name as Android 6.0 Marshmallow and has already put out three performances to the Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player, before the final version rolls out.
As for the LG devices, it is also cited that it may receive the update only next year, but LG G4 is being speculated that it might acquire the update sooner, in late 2015 or early 2016.The older LG G3 will also definitely receive the newest OS after releasing it to the LG G4.
However, some rumors claim that the LG G2 device, may not receive the Google's latest Operating System Android 6.0 Marshmallow at all. Still, LG has not yet provided any official confirmation in this regards. Hence, all of this information still remains in the rumor state at the moment.
Due to the arrival of Android Marshmallow, some manufacturers including LG will reportedly cut out on the Lollipop 5.1.1 update and run ahead to Android 6.0, which is Marshmallow,reports MNR daily. The site added that this action by LG may not surprise the LG users anymore since the company has already made the same strategy when it skipped Kitkat 4.4.4 to go ahead to Lollipop 5.1 before.
As for the Android Marshmallow features, the update is anticipated to provide fingerprint reader and USB Type-C port connection. Moreover, the latest OS will reportedly feature the Google's mobile wallet, including Android Pay, as well, Christian Today wrote.
The site also reports that the Android Product Manager Jamal Eason has stated that aside from the new platform features which include the fingerprint support and Doze power saving mode, Android Marshmallow will also have a new permissions model that modernizes the app install and update process.
Google's latest version of operating system, Android Marshmallow, is expected to have its official announcement this month of September.
