It seems like a possibility, and it allegedly Somerhalder's wife, Nikki Reed, was pushing the "TVD" actor to exit the show. And lately, the actor's Instagram account was full of puzzling messages hinting that he is considering giving up his role as Damon Salvatore on" TVD".
While a reunion between the ex- lovers off screen is greatly impossible, their fans are still hoping to see their characters, Damon and Elena's happy ever after on the "The Vampire Diaries" as reported by Movie News Guide. Dobrev's ended her role in Season 6 and made this even more impossible for fans to see their characters together. But the idea that her character Elena wasn't killed in the show gave some sort of hope for their shippers.
However, recent reports mentioned that Somerhalder was also deciding on leaving the CW series. He purportedly posted a number of Instagram posts, which seemingly hinting at his exit from the show. Australia Network News even reported that Somerhalder posted a screenshot of the time when the show was leading ahead of "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy." The 36-year-old lead star also posted a shot of his character from Season 1 on his Instagram account. He shared a seemingly hint on his character's future, as he posted a photo of his eye with a caption, stating: "Looking into the future ... Love, Ian."
The actor's mysterious captions on his Instagram page follow speculations that Somerhalder's character will finally exit in the season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries". Since the dynamic of Dobrev and Somerhalder's characters, Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore has ended, fans speculate Ian Somerhalder will quit to move on to new projects before the TVD ship sinks.
Recent reports fueling that Somerhalder's decisions were influenced by his wife.
