Google updates advertisement's format in Chrome Browser beginning September 1. This update is about stopping advertisements to automatically play through Flash. Advertisements that are in Flash will be converted to HTML5 and others which are in HTML5 format will continue to work.
Google's initiative was unveiled in June on Google+, Wired said. The report cited some online companies that have stopped supporting Flash in its videos and animations such as Mozilla, Facebook, and Amazon. These online firms are shifting previous Flash ads to HTML5 format and starting to accept the new format.
Speaking with advertisers, Bulletin Leader stated that Google notified them about the shifting of format from Flash to HTML5 since the start of the year.
The initiative of Google is to provide great experience to advertisers and marketers by giving a better technology in advertising. The subsidiary company would also like to prevent various spread of malware. This means that mobile users can conveniently play advertisements in their own devices without being bothered by viruses. More so, advertisers can benefit with such format because it can make their advertisements easier.
One of the Google's previous update was to put a small icon in a tab of an advertisement which contains an audio, Bulletin Leader reported. This was to lessen the automatic transmit of sound which annoys surfers. It added that the transition from Flash to HTML5 will take time and money to be able to achieve Google's goal.
It is known that HTML5 is a technology used in the internet to structure and present contents in World Wide Web. This makes videos and animations easier to understand since it doesn't auto-play, but this is all in contrary of Flash model.
The purpose of Google with the shift of video and animation model is to promote the advocacy of bug prevention with its users along with other online companies. The said transition was initiated on September 1, 2015.
