After calling Idris Elba "too street" to play 007, the author of the new James Bond novel, Anthony Horowitz expressed his apology. On the other hand, Daniel Craig branded his most famous character James Bond as "misogynistic", "sexist" and "very lonely" in a recent interview.

The writer made his statement in the middle of the speculations that Elba is to replace actor Daniel Craig as James Bond. Horowitz heated up the issue and revealed in the Daily Mail UK that while the Elba is "terrific", he could "think of other black actors who would do it better."

But Author Ta-Nehisi Coates commented on the James Bond author about his recent statement. The author was among those to disapprove of Horowitz's comment and even tweeted, "Just be honest and say "James Bond's being white is important to me" and be done with it. Elba is "too street" in much the same way that Obama was "too foreign," and King was "too communist."

Horowitz already made his apologies for his comments and admitted that he had chosen his words "clumsily". He revealed that he had been thinking of Elba's detective role in "Luther" during the interview when he made the comment. He took to Twitter on Tuesday, "In the article I expressed the opinion that to my mind Adrian Lester would be a better choice but I'm a writer not a casting director so what do I know?"

Meanwhile, the current Bond, Daniel Craig told Esquire UK magazine that he would bring "weight and meaning" to the character in his fourth portrayal in Bond, Spectre. The actor even told the magazine, "Hopefully my Bond is not as sexist and misogynistic. The world has changed." He also added, "I am certainly not that person. But he is, and so what does that mean? It means you cast great actresses and make the parts as good as you can for the women in the movies."

The actor also revealed that for the first time in the history of the movie series, 007 will be involved with a "mature" woman, which will be portrayed by actress Monica Bellucci. And Daniel admitted that while the detective might have quite an eye for attractive women, he cannot really build meaningful relationships which makes his character "very lonely".

Even though the latest movie franchise is amidst controversies nowadays, especially that Craig is speculated to exit his role, fans are thrilled to hear the latest update of its movie release. Moreover, Craig's next Bond film, "Spectre" will hit the big screens on November 6 and Horowitz's "Trigger Mortis" is set to release in bookstores September 8.
