Han Solo Standalone Film Updates: Harrison Ford plays the young hero; Kennedy assures the movie will be full of fun

A sequel for the Star Wars movie has been officially announced to be released on 2018. As Walt Disney made its official announcement on the development of the new project, Han Solo Standalone will be the third "Star Wars" film franchised by Disney in 2012 from Lucasfilm.

Star Wars fans are intrigued as to what Han Solo has become and what happened to him before the Mos Eisley cantina.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the "21 Jumpstreet" directors, are also the appointed directors for the stand-alone film. In an official press release of Star Wars, the two directors talked about their experiences as they embraced the responsibility of directing the film. They also promised the viewers for a fresh start.

Harrison Ford will again play the role as a young Han Solo in the movie. According to Entertainment Weekly, there are no other hired actors yet. It also mentioned that Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy, updated for not only one but possibly two Hans coming back to the film.

"Those are exactly the questions we're asking," Kennedy says. "There's got to be a reason for [the stand-alone film] to be. And obviously the thing that Star Wars has always done so well is it doesn't spend a lot of time [explaining] the stories that have come before. We don't want to do that either. We don't want to spend time going back and answering a lot of questions that, quite frankly, I don't think people want answered."

According to another article on Yahoo, Harrison Ford's character will surely surprise the audiences as he will portray an image of a man in his early 20s.

"He'll definitely be probably in the high teens, low 20s," Kennedy told the magazine. "We're not introducing you to a 10-year-old Han Solo."

It was also mentioned in Entertainment Weekly that the film will be some sort of a comedy. This makes sense because the directors are known as comedy filmmakers.

"You can imagine, given who we've chosen to come in and direct, it should be very entertaining and funny," Kennedy says. "Han Solo is the character inside Star Wars that everybody knows has a wit and sense of humor. So that's what this should be."

But before the Hans Solo standalone film, Star Wars are also expected to release three movies prior to the 2018 film.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh episode in the anthology series and the first installment in a new trilogy. In an article posted on Collider, the film will be directed by J.J. Abrams and it is waiting for its release on December 18, 2015. "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" will be released on December 16, 2016. Rian Johnson is tasked to direct the film. Aside from those films, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is also pending until May 26, 2017.
