Xiaomi Mi 4C Release Rumors: Recent leaks reveal new powerful handsets, more connectivity options

The Chinese mobile tech company Xiaomi has been on a roll these past months in producing its line of affordable yet quality smartphones. Since the launch of Redmi 2 and Redmi 2 Note this year, many are excited for two more upcoming devices, the Xiaomi Mi 5 and the Xiaomi Mi 4C. The leaked information presents the Xiaomi Mi 4C's specifications, features, and release date, which was supposed to be on September 2.

Xiaomi Mi 4C, given the monicker Xiaomi Libra, was a cheaper variant of its forerunner the Mi 4 as reported by Day Herald. There were leaks that showed the Mi 4C handset's AnTuTu Benchmark test result and its certification by TENAA, a telecommunications equipment certification in China.

The leaked photo from TENAA confirmed rumors of the Mi 4C's specs. According to Christian Today, the Xiaomi Mi 4C will sport a 5.0 inch display with 1080 pixels resolution. It is the first device that comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, a 16 GB internal memory, and a 2 GB RAM. The new handset is rumored to have the same processor as the LG G4, which means it is more powerful than Mi 4i.

Leaks on Xiaomi Mi 4C also revealed that it has many connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, and Wi-Fi Direct. Powered by a 3080 mAh battery, Xiaomi Mi 4C also has a 13 MP built-in rear camera with Dual-tone LED flash and a 5 MP front camera selfie snapper. Another notable feature is that Xiaomi Mi 4C will run on the latest MiUI 7 operating system based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The device will also utilize the reversible USB Type-C connector.

Xiaomi Today cites a source from China claiming that only 100,000 units of the new Xiaomi Mi 4C will be produced for the market. As to the reasons for this, the report continues to explain that Xiaomi does not want Redmi Note 2 sales to drop or it might be that the company is trying to save up for the coming Xiaomi Mi 5.

The Xiaomi Mi 4C is scheduled to be officially released on September 2 and is expected to hit retail stores on October 3. Its estimated price, around 1,299 yuan or $200, is assumed to be at par with the Mi 4i.
