Actress Patti Lupone will not be reprising her role as the Cut-Wife in the upcoming episodes of "Penny Dreadful" Season 3 but she has become a series regular in the much-loved show. The new character that will be coming to the third season of the show was announced and it is Dr. Jekyll Hyde.
According to A.V. Club, Patti Lupone's Cut-Wife was first seen by fans of the show in one of the episodes of "Penny Dreadful" season 2 entitled "Nightcomers." In this stand-alone episode, fans were able to see how Vanessa Ives, played by Eva Greeen, was able to manifest her own dark powers. The new character that Lupone will be playing is that of Dr. Seward, an American therapist that will treat Vanessa.
Accordingly, the procedure that Dr. Seward will be doing to Vanessa is an unconventional and new approach. Vanessa has been subjected to different asylum experiences before but it is expected that Dr. Seward's procedure will be less invasive and less cutting-edge.
The character was based on Dr. Jack Seward, the insane asylum administrator from "Dracula," Screen Rant reported. Because Dr. Seward was based on the show aforementioned, it is expected that the notorious vampire could make an appearance in at least one of the episodes of the show.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Reported said that aside from Lupone, other fresh faces will be seen in the upcoming "Penny Dreadful" Season 3. According to the article, the new character that the show has been teasing about for month now is Dr. Henry Jekyll who will be played by Shazad Latif. Another newcomers is Wes Studi's Kaetenay, a Native American who has a deep connection with Ethan Chandler and will also be an ally to Sir Malcolm.
Guest stars will also be seen as the show progresses such as Christian Camargo as Dr. Alexander Sweet. He will be having an unlikely friendship with Vanessa. Samuel Bartnett will play the role of the young and mysterious secretary of Dr. Seward.
Fans will get to see Dr. Seward played by Patti Lupone and Dr. Jekyll Hyde in "Penny Dreadful" Season 3. The Showtime series has no specific premiere date yet but is expected to be back by 2016.
