Google Play Services' Latest Version, 8.1, Rolls Out to Give a Glimpse of Android Pay

By

Android Pay has been the talk of the town of almost everyone lately. All Android users and spectators are more than excited to experience this brand-new and interesting innovation from Google. But before it will be officially released, Google thrills everyone a bit with its latest Google Play Services update, the v8.1. Thus, leaving everyone's waiting game for its exact launch date strong.

Just recently, Google Play Services v8.1 began rolling out to prepare for the much-awaited Android Pay. This upgraded version of Google Play Services consists most of the Android Pay infrastructure included in it, which gave high hopes for some Android users. They were disappointed as Android Pay was already visible in this version, but unusable and not yet functional. This could be just a short preview of Google's new NFC payment solution.

Android Pay is the new Google Wallet that lets users pay all goods from their smartphones. It is a contact-less payment service, which is more convenient and secure than ever. Android users can use this application by tapping their smartphones to the POS system of any stores.

Though this application may have some similarities with the Google Wallet, still it's way different from it. Android Pay's functionality is built right into the operating system. It is also simple to use and does not require a fingerprint scanning. Instead, it accepts PIN code, pattern, or password to authenticate a transaction. Moreover, expect to use tokenization when using Android Pay. When paying for something, the retailer receives a devalued, one-time-use credit card number instead of the real account number of the customer; keeping the customer's real credit card information secure.

Even if there might be people who were disappointed on this update, still it is worth noting that there has been more progress on this latest version of Google Play Services. You can download the latest Google Play Services v8.1 anytime.
