A Look At Charlie Sheen's Career As Star Turns 50

Carlos Irwin Estévez best known as Charlie Sheen is celebrating his 50th birthday today September 3. In 1974, the young Carlos made his first movie appearance at the age of nine in his father film's "The Execution of Private Slovik".

The Movie plot recount the years, the charismatic actor has given the public plenty of memorable characters and his brushes with the law and the media have been well documented. As he celebrates his 50th, it's high time we look back at some of the stages of his life that defined him as we know him today.

In 1986, Charlie Sheen was cast as one of the lead in the movie Platoon by Oliver Stone. The movie is considered as one of if not the best movie about the Vietnam War due to the fact that it was written and directed by a true blue Vietnam veteran. Sheen's portrayal of his role made him a sought after actor in Hollywood afterwards.

On the small screen, Sheen shined in the series "Two and a Half Men". The show ran for 12 seasons and Sheen was part of it for the most of the show's run. His character was killed off prior to the first episode of the ninth season.

Sheen being fired from the show was the result of him battling substance abuse. He had to go to a rehab facility thrice in a span of 12 months. This low point in his career though did not dim the star of Charlie Sheen, the charismatic star with a bad boy image. The MS Starz wrote, his rant on TV interviews talking about "winning" and being a "total bitchin' rock star from Mars" in fact made him even more popular as the Internet started talking about him in earnest.

For all his ups and downs, Charlie Sheen has become somewhat of an institution in Hollywood and can be proven by his wild popularity to this day. Happy 50th to the tiger-blooded warlock with Adonis DNA!
