Couple Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder pulled off an amazing stunt not most Hollywood celebrity couples could do. They got married in secret and not even their family and friends knew that it was their wedding they were going to attend to.
Somerhalder and Reed, both actors and animal rights advocate, got engaged in January after being together for 6 months. Instead of doing a high-profile wedding, they decided to do the ceremony in secret. They had the ceremony in April, 3 months together of being engaged. There were not much photos revealed after the wedding, until recently. Brides, in their October issue, reveals exclusive photos of the Reed-Somerhalder wedding. Their reception was held in a backyard setting, arranged by their planner Andrea Freeman.
After the wedding, the newlyweds have been very affectionate with each other and very open to posting photos together online. However, exclusive photos of their secret wedding were recently released to the media. According to Refinery 29, the couple's idea to keep the ceremony a secret was by informing them that they were invited to a housewarming party. The guests were surprised when upon arrival; they were transported into a secret location in Topanga Canyon to witness the couple's wedding ceremony.
Instead of throwing a formal-attire themed ceremony, the couple opted to do it on a backyard, inspired on a Coachella theme which is a music festival both of them admire. As reported by Hollywood Life, they had a New Orleans soulful vibe, since that is where Ian is from. They explained that they didn't their loved ones to come into formal attire or have such high expectations of the ceremony, thus prompting them to do it in secret. The couple even created a special cocktail; Nikki designed a pear vodka while Ian designed a spicy hibiscus margarita.
The couple exclaimed that they weren't for the whole formal event for a wedding. They just wanted to perform the ceremony in front of their loved ones, and all in it for the love, thus leading them to an intimate and private wedding exclusive for their family and close friends.
