In light of the much awaited premiere of the 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', fans have lined up for Force Friday, the release of Star Wars toys. In an unexpected treat, the figures included an unseen character, revealed to be a Guavian Enforcer.
The Guavian Enforcer was noticed as one of the largely mysterious characters along with Constable Zuvio. The back of the package reads: "The security soldiers of the Guavian Gang" wear high impact armor that makes them stand out among other deadly criminals." This was information was released on the official Star Wars website, sans a photo of the Enforcer, as reported by the Movie Web.
According to Gamezone, this Guavian Enforcer's look was derived out of an unused early design for villain Kylo Ren. This character was first glimpsed shortly at the 2:23 mark of the San Diego Comic Con behind-the-scenes highlight reel. As part of The Black Series, some suppose that they might be related with Maz Kanata's pirates and also, "guards/gang members on the "Giant Freighter."
The Tech Insider comments that the design looks very similar to Marvel character Deadpool, which will also have a movie in 2016. Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilms are both owned by The Walt Disney Company. Whether or not there is a connection in terms of production or concept is yet to be addressed.
Along with the release of the Guavian Enforcer, the Star Wars website has more than twenty new updates for characters, vehicles, locations from The Force Awakens. Despite this number, a number of other characters have no toys yet so a second wave of merchandise is set to be released around November.
'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' will premiere this December 17 and will finally reveal what role the largely unseen character Guavian Enforcer. Meanwhile, Star Wars merchandise revealed in Force Friday release continue to be sold in toy stores globally.
