'Spider-Man' Reboot Updates: Emma Thompson criticizes the upcoming franchise; Sony to cast a new Spidey

By

Two years from now, another untitled "Spider-Man" film will be hitting the big screens. Sony Pictures Entertainment has joined forces with Marvel Studio for a reboot of the widely popular comic book superhero, 'Spiderman', into the Marvel Universe. However, many audiences doubt the outcome of the idea of remaking the superhero film again.

Many people prefer to see Andrew Garfield making a leap to the Marvel Cinematic World as he desperately swings action with the Avengers. As it turned out, not only the fans are uncertain about it but also other actors and actresses including the respected actress and author, Emma Thompson. Although Thompson has cleared that she is not against any superhero movies, she despises the fact that the movie keeps coming out with the same franchise or it has been shown a million times already.

During an interview on Vulture with the Oscar-winning actress, Emma Thompson, she reiterated that reboot movies are a no thrill. When in fact, the ending when people get cynical about it is pretty much obvious. According to her, she might rather die than to see another Spiderman film.

"If I see yet another Spider-Man, I'm going to have to actually hang myself. I can't do it anymore!" she said. "They're all marvelous, but how many times can you make this franchise, for crying out loud?"

Variety reports that Amy Pascal, Sony's film producer, was challenged with the $4 billion 'Spider-Man' franchise for 13 long years which made her decide for another deal with the Marvel's film producer, Kevin Feige. They were both assigned to be the Spiderman's film producers. Well, it was also reported that Sony and Marvel will feature another star in lieu of Andrew Garfield who played the character for the last two films and Tobey Maguire who portrayed as Peter Parker in Spiderman 1, 2 and 3.

According to an article on TechnoBuffalo, Marvel Studio and Sony's partnership for the reboot of the film aims to whether change or get rid of the whole web shooter mechanism. In the comics, fans know that Peter Parker is a tinker who experiments and creates different devices to supplement his skills. One of his inventions is the remarkable mechanic web shooters similar to a real spider. But, in Sam Raimi's trilogy, the web shooter is known to be the outcome of his mutation.

It was also rumored that Ironman (Robert Downey Jr.) will be granting a new suit for Peter Parker in his debut appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Aside from this, rumors that the film will be having three villains which are not yet identified are buzzing up.

Nevertheless, Marvel and Sony assured that they will find a vibrant, talented young actor to be the new Peter Parker. The 'Spider-Man' reboot is scheduled to be out on July 28, 2017.
