Co-founder for Microsoft, Bill Gates invests US$35 billion for Berlin-based network for scientists, ResearchGate. This is tied with Gate's interest in fighting diseases. The long-term investment agreement will help develop new research from different collaborators from all over the world.
ResearchGate allows easy access for the collaboration of researches around the world. In fact, the collaboration of researches from Nigeria and Europe resulted to a new discovery of a deadly pathogen. This was stated by CEO for ResearchGate, Ijad Madisch in a phone interview.
According to the spokesman for the Gates family, the investment was actually a private investment and did not come from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a foundation founded in 2000 that totals a US$36.4 billion endowment. Speculations had it coming from said firm as the Gates Foundation are known to be working on the eradication of the world's deadliest diseases and rampant poverty. No further statement was released.
