Liev Schreiber, who played the vicious villain Sabretooth in X-men Origins: Wolverine, is rumored to come back in the final chapter of the Wolverine trilogy. Reports have circulated that the plot may be lifted from the Old Man Logan comics.
The X-men villain's possible return was sparked when Hugh Jackman received a vast number of calls for it. As chronicled by Comic Book, rumors were fuelled when Schreiber responded to a photo of Jackman working out, saying "Do I have to do that?" Speculations spiralled as Jackman might have been preparing for Wolverine, and Schreiber's response might have been about doing the same for Sabretooth.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon, as reported by Screen Rant, Schreiber cleared that bit in Fallon's show, "People have surmised that from my tweet, but I wasn't. I was really just saying is that something I have to do as I get older. Is that how I approach middle age? Like that."
However, Schreiber has inferred being open to the possibility of playing Victor Creed/Sabretooth once more. The actor says that he has no knowledge if he's invited to reprise the role for Wolverine 3. However, he admits hearing that the plot is Old Man Logan.
On this bit of information, Schreiber responds in good humor, "Well, you know... there's Old Man Logan, there could be Old Man Sabretooth."
Aside from Jackman, it has only been Patrick Stewart who confirmed making more than just an appearance, according to Vine Report. Stewart, who plays Professor X, also gave his two cents on the Old Man Logan storyline saying that he really looks forward to the idea of an old Wolverine.
He jokingly adds that he'd like to see Hugh Jackman get old. Stewart teases, "You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I'm hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he'll make me look better if that's the case."
Jackman himself also hints on Wolverine's "berserker rage", as requested by a great number of fans. As the last movie of the Wolverine trilogy and his last outing in the iconic role (and iconic claws), his archnemesis and berserker rage seems like the perfect way to go out.
However, all of these are just hints and teases, with Michael Green working on the script. With the release of the untitled Wolverine 3 movie slated on March 3, 2017, it will be some time before there is definite news on whether the Old Man Logan will be the plot and/or if he will be joined by the Old Man Sabretooth on this final chapter.
