In the newest trailer of Ridley Scott's The Martian, Matt Damon fights to survive in Mars. His character, Mark Watney, records himself saying "I'm gonna have to science the shit out of this." NASA and its astronauts approve of the movie, saying they are excited to see the film.
This weekend, epic new trailers for the movie came, fleshing out more details on Watney's fight for survival in the Red Planet. According to Movie Web, in manned mission gone awry to Mars, Watney was mistakenly left behind after being presumed dead. He contends with problems on food, water, air, safety and communication.
Unknowing, he also teeters between being painfully sacrificed and being bravely rescued. The preview looks even more intense, and it raises some intriguing questions about the value of human life in space exploration.
In a report by The Guardian, NASA astronauts are excited to the movie, having read the Andy Weir novel it was based on. Earlier, NASA's director of planetary sciences Jim Green had stated that The Martian is the closest to science fact, among any of sci-fi stories about the journey to Mars.
Astronauts based in the International Space Station hope for a copy of the film to be beamed to them when it is released.
According to Coming Soon, The Martian doesn't only present a promising story. The movie features a star-studded cast starting from Matt Damon. Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover and Sean Bean are all part of the stellar team that will have you gripping the edge of your seats.
While it awaits its October 2 release, it is unknown if The Martian will release additional trailers. Certainly, current teasers of the movie has the audience excited on how Matt Damon will 'science the shit' out of Mars to survive. NASA, astronauts, sci-fi lovers who have read the book are anticipating how closely it will follow the book.
