Norwegian children's furniture maker Stokke AS, appointed advisers to help the firm explore a possible sale. This was according to two people with knowledge of the said report.
Stokke AS is based Aalesund, Norway and was established in 1932. It is owned by the Stokke family who has sought the help of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. to take a look at their strategic options. This may lead to a possible sale of the company's majority stake later this year according to the same sources. The company is said to be valued at around EUR400 million as stated by the same people who declined to be named because of the talks are private.
Stokke's chairman, Wilhelm Mohn confirmed the report of the company's engagement with an international strategic adviser through an email sent yesterday. However, he declined to give statements about the identity of the advisers and if the company was indeed exploring a sale.
According to the same sources, Stokke has attracted other furniture companies and private equity firms after its strong recent growth. Last year, Stokke has exceeded US$173 million for the first time. The furniture maker includes products such as the well-known Tripp Trapp highchair.
