Starting September 11th, AT&T will offer its newest device. The ZTE-made Mobley is AT&T's first mobile hotspot capable of plugging into any on-board diagnostics (OBD) port. This means that it will work with vehicles made around 1996 or later.
According to PR Newswire, Chris Penrose, the Senior Vice President of Internet of Things (IoT), AT&T Mobility, says that "The ZTE Mobley is our first Wi-Fi plug-in for the car. It's great for everyone - families, entertainment enthusiasts and professionals. It allows multiple Wi-Fi-capable devices to connect to AT&T's 4G LTE network, making it perfect for anyone on-the-go."
AT&T's Mobley brings internet connectivity even to nearly 20-year old automobiles. It can power up to five devices on AT&T's LTE network and requires a minor setup. The company says that the device powers up automatically as the car engine and turns itself off when the engine is shut down. Additionally, the Mobley is designed purposefully for those who want connectivity that comes to reality as soon as they turn the key and remains active only for the trip.
This first plug-and-play vehicle WiFi hotspot from AT&T is powered by a Qualcomm MDM9215 processor. While on the road, Mobley provides 4G LTE-speed Internet access to mobile devices, such as tablets, laptops, and handheld game consoles.
Those who will sign a two-year contract to AT&T will be given a Mobley for free starting September 11. However, the company sells the device contract-free for $100. The service plan costs $20 for 1GB of data or $30 for 3GB. Moreover, for an additional $10 a month, the subscriber can add the Mobley to AT&T's Mobile Value Share plan and let it pull data from the monthly smartphone cache of the subscriber.
The Mobley gives fast speed and performance connection on all devices connected. The networks can also be customized through AT&T's Wi-Fi manager home page. Thus, AT&T's Mobley is a one-of-a-kind and great innovation for all.
