Michael Fassbender is one of the most in-demand actors in recent years. Recently starring in Macbeth and in Steve Jobs, the A-list actor is in talks again to star in another movie: Nesbø's The Snowman.
According to Variety, the German-Irish actor talks to play the hardened Oslo detective Harry Hole of Jo Nesbø crime novel The Snowman. The adaptation of the Norwegian book has been in the planning department since 2011. This is the first time casting talks have made news.
In a summary by The Hollywood Reporter, Fassbender's potential character, Harry Hole takes on the case of a missing mother. The only trace left of her is the pink give by her young son.
Mysteriously wrapped around the snowman in the front yard, Hole digs deeper to the case realizes that he is looking for Norway's first serial killer: a murderer who leaves a snowman near the crime scene.
While The Snowman is a part of a 9 book-series about the maverick cop, the film-to- be produced seems to be a stand-alone plan for now. According The Guardian, Working Title originally wanted to make a series, but the plan to do so seems to be on hold, depending on the outcome of this first film.
Originally, Martin Scorsese was direct the crime-drama but now Tomas Alfredson is now at the helm of the movie. Scorsese remains involved, in a producer capacity now. Swedish director Alfredson is known for his "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" and "Let the Right One In."
Michael Fassbender, whose previous films include Shame, 12 Years a Slave, Prometheus, Inglorious Basterds and Frank, has a big line-up of upcoming films. Currently, he is busy promoting Steve Jobs and MacBeth, both of which make him an awards season frontrunner. The in-demand actor will also be back as X-Men: Apocalypse for May 2016 and will be lead the video game adaptation Assassin's Creed. The A-list actor is now under talks if John Nesbø's The Snowman will join this list of impressive movies.
