The Instagram war is officially on for famous singer Taylor Swift, and reality TV star Kim Kardashian. The pop star has recently broke the latter's record of being the most followed celebrity in the photo sharing site, surpassing Kardashian's followers by 100,000 more.
In a report from Los Angeles Times, on Wednesday morning, September 8, Taylor Swift became the most followed celebrity on Instagram. With an amazing 45.7 million followers, the "Shake It Off" singer dethroned the "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" star by over 100,000 followers, pushing Kim to the second spot.
According to the report, Kim Kardashian took the crown from singer Beyonce around a month ago. The Queen B was noted to have had a whopping 45.1 million followers, and now currently sits in third place in the most followed Instagram user.
US Magazine reported that it was after Taylor Swift posted a picture of her and her cat, where the followers started pouring in. The singer also posted a picture of herself wearing a knitted sweater that was made and gifted to her by a fan. Though the once shy type girl has not commented yet on dethroning the Kardashian star; apparently, when pregnant Kim made it to the number one spot, she posted a low quality picture exposing a lot of cleavage as a thank you for all her fans and followers.
According to the Daily Mail, it doesn't come as a surprise that Taylor managed to gain all those followers seeing as she's one of the most record breaking businesswomen alive right now. The "Bad Blood" star has close friendship ties with many other famous and highly followed celebrities such as Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Selena Gomez and actress Hailee Steinfeld; not to mention her hot DJ boyfriend, Calvin Harris.
With followers constantly pouring in, it's not sure how long Taylor Swift will be able to stay at the number one spot. Though at the moment she's still got a good amount of followers ahead of Kim Kardashian, the 25-year-old singer may need to embrace her achievement sooner than later.
