Good news to The Big Bang Theory fans who have been left hanging by last season's jaw-dropping cliffhangers. Yes, Leonard and Penny will officially become Mr. and Mrs. Hofstadter in the Season 9 premiere.
This was confirmed by EP Steve Molaro in a TV Cheatsheet report. "We're nine years in and we want to keep things moving forward, as well as exciting and scary and fun," Molaro said of the decision to finally let the two marry. "And I think this a great way to do it. Penny has had commitment issues for years and years now, especially when it comes to Leonard, and even she feels, 'How much longer are we going to go back and forth on this? Let's just jump in and hope for the best.'"
In last season's finale, all three couples left the viewers with a lot of questions and excitement for the new season. Amy broke up with Sheldon not knowing he was about to propose to her and had already bought her a ring. Howard and Bernadette were desperately trying to get Stuart to leave their house. Penny and Leonard ran off to Las Vegas to get married. While on their way, Leonard unexpectedly confessed that he kissed another woman while on a North Sea expedition.
Many were surprised with Molaro's decision to drop such a big spoiler before the season premiere. In a TV Line interview, he explained that the wedding is just the tip of the iceberg as far as surprises go in the new season.
It seems that it will not be a smooth sailing for the new married couple after all though. It was recently confirmed that actress Melissa Tang has joined the cast as Mandy, the woman Leonard confessed he kissed and cheated with. Her sudden arrival will surely put a damper on the couple's honeymoon.
As for Amy and Sheldon, Yibada reports that Molaro hinted that Amy might find a new love in the new season. This is while Sheldon tries hard to solve the problem that caused their breakup. Molaro however still believes that they will get back together since Sheldon is determined to win Amy back.
In another scoop, it was learned that an episode of Season 9 will feature a storyline based on the latest Star Wars film, The Force Awakens. The series is clearly a fan of the movie franchise. In the past, several Star Wars cameos were featured in the show. One episode in season 7 even starred actors James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher.
Fans do really have a lot to look forward to in the Season 9 premiere of The Big Bang Theory on September 21 on CBS. All of the spoilers that have been coming out are clear indications of how full of surprises Season 9 will be.
