The owner of Bordeaux wine estate Chateau Haut-Brion, Domaine Clarence Dillon had recently announced the acquisition of Chateau L'Arrosee, a producer of Grand Cru Classe located in the Saint-Emilion, very near the Chateau Quintus Vineyards.
The family of Roger Caille had owned L'Arrosee since 2002. Now, the agreement signed by the president of Dillon's unit Quintus SAS, who owns the Saint-Emilion property would fortify the production of these wines for the world market, according to an emailed statement.
The said acquisition was first reported at the Decanter.com website. The report indicated that the 9.5 hectare L'Arrosee estate grows different grapes from its vineyard. 20% is set aside for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for the Merlot of Saint-Emilion and 20% of the area for Cabernet Franc.
The expansion of the business interest of the Dillon house comes at a time when wines from its cellars, some vintage 1891 together with those from Haut-Brion stand to go on sale through a Sotheby's auction to held in Hong Kong by October of this year.
