According to ArabianBusiness.com, members of the staff at business websites AME Info and SME Info would need to re-interview for their jobs as a requirement under the buyout provisions of the sale to Mediaquest.
Mediaquest is a media and entertainment firm that has branches in Algiers, Beirut, Dubai, Paris, Riyadh and Tunis. It publishes magazines and websites for F1 Racing, Autocar Middle East, Kippreport.com, Marie Claire Arabia and Trends. It confirmed that it had purchased AME Info and SME Info, both online business news websites.
According to Mediaquest co-CEO Alexandre Hawari, "The acquisition of boththe AME Info and SME Info websites are in line with our growth strategy and commitment to strengthening the position of regional publications."
As a result of the buyout, AME Info and SME Info websites would be redone and then relaunched by September 2013. Also part of the restructuring would be the requirement for all of the staff to reapply for their existing jobs.
Ayman Haidar, Mediaquest Managing Director explains, "The thing is the whole acquisition pretty fast and this is one of the reasons it wasn't clear to staff what was going on but we are definitely interviewing them starting Sunday."
