Sandy Kurtzig, mastermind of 80's software giant Manman, raised over $30 million for her newest company, Kenandy. Kurtzig said that this recent upturn will boost the young company's sales, marketing, and production.
Previous investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Buyers, law firm Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and Salesforce.com Inc were joined by Lightspeed Venture Partners to form the company's roster of shareholders.
In 2011, Kenandy managed to raise $10.5 million.
Kurtzig said that Kenandy was founded through the concept started by her neighboy, Salesforce.com Chief Executive Marc Benioff. Kenandy is a cloud-based update of ASK Computer Systems, who made Manman's software used in production and manufacturing added Kutzig.
ASK Computer Systems, originally called Mama (manufacturing management), was sold to CA after being made public on Nasdaq in 1981. The customers had their way in renaming the company, said Kurtzig. "Manufacturing executives, who are mostly men, thought Manman was a more fitting product name that they could get behind than Mama," she added.
Just like ASK, Kurtzig is planning to take Kenandy public within the next two years.
