Apple has announced that its most-advanced mobile operating system will finally be available on September 16. The iOS 9 is expected to be a free update for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users.
According to Apple, its newest iOS update makes all iDevices more proactive and intelligent with powerful search and improved Siri features while still protecting each user's privacy. Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, said that the iOS 9 brings a more influential experience on iPhone and iPad users.
iOS 9 includes aplenty performance improvements. Powerful built-in applications are included along with some new applications like the News application for top news reading experience on any mobile device, detailed transit information in Maps, redesigned Notes application that offers new ways to capture ideas, new capabilities in Apple Pay, and support for CarPlay.
Moreover, a new typeface, San Francisco, is featured, which was first seen in the Apple Watch. The default software keyboard changes between lower and uppercase letters, fixing the confusing Shift key. Siri and the multitasking switcher have new appearances, the Settings application has a search function now, and other small visual and functional tweaks are added throughout the operating system. The Safari View Controller brings better visual consistency and performance to Web views in other applications and allows saved passwords or sign-ins from Safari to be used in Web views.
Nevertheless, the most significant changes are for the newer versions of iPad. These support Slide Over, a multitasking view, which lets the user quickly open a secondary application on the side of their screen, work in it, and leave it without dismissing the current application. Additionally, these support Picture-in-Picture video viewing, which allows the user to play a video while composing email, browsing the web, or using other applications.
All Apple users and spectators are definitely excited about this update. Save the date, September 16, and enjoy the latest iOS 9!
