The music publishing rights expert Cutting Edge Group and investment arm Conduct have come on board four upcoming movies, one of which is Sam Worthington's "Hunter's Prayer."
According to Variety, the deal was unveiled during the Toronto Film Festival along with other films like Tom Cruise's "Mena" directed by Doug Liman; "Ninth Life of Louis Drax," the Alexandre Aja thriller from Miramax; and "Yoga Hosers", the Kevin Smith comedy which co-stars Johnny Depp.
"We're excited to be involved with films of such high quality," said James Gibb, Conduct's Managing Director. "It's been a very productive TIFF for us so far, we have the checkbook out and we're looking for more!"
The seven-year-old CEG has invested in movies such as "Remember" and "Sicario", both of which are currently screening in Toronto. It has also renewed its slate deal with Basil Iwanyk's Thunder Road Pictures.
As for the 38-year-old Australian-born actor Sam Worthington, this is something to be excited for, especially with his upcoming movie "Hunter's Prayer."
Daily Mail had previously reported about the action star sporting a shaggy, unkempt beard and that he looked rough and rugged while shooting his scenes in the streets of London. The Avatar star is set to play a brooding assassin in the new flick.
Meanwhile, Hollywood Reporter said that "Hunter's Prayer" has pre-sold in a raft of international markets and has included Martin Compston, Amy Landecker and Veronica Echegui as new cast members.
The movie is an adaptation of Kevin Wignall's critically acclaimed novel, "For the Dogs." Aside from the fact that Jonathan Mostow of Terminator 3 fame is directing it, it's worth noting that Paul Leydon, Oren Moverman, John Brancato and Michael Ferris wrote the adapted script.
The Hunter's Prayer, set to release this year, is a movie about an assassin who helps a young woman avenge the death of her family.
