Samsung will be issuing Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to some of its Galaxy series such as S6, Note 5, S5, Note 4 and other variants once it becomes available. The software update will be sent through an OTA or via KIES for installation. It is said that the new OS update will provide enhanced features that can be utilized on the phones particularly on the battery management, apps permission, and automatic app data backup and restore.
Android Geeks said that the Android software developers are now on the final stage of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. At the moment, there is no exact detail on when will the new OS be released but reports say that it might be this coming November. Latin Post also commented on the release date of the new Android OS which is this coming fall.
In the related report, the update will be issued through an OTA or via KIES. When the device received such notification, users will just need to follow the steps from the screen for successful installation. If users would like to manually update the phone's OS, they can go to Settings, then go to About Phone, hit Software updates, and finally Check for Software Updates or via KIES. These methods should together be connected to PC using USB data cable. Android Geeks also reminded that users have to flash the update using ODIN tool if they are in custom ROM or have altered OS.
On the other hand, one of the improvements that the new OS brings is apps permission system. From here, apps will ask for permissions before its usability. Though, users will have the ability to turn on and off such permission by going to the Settings menu. Another is it will support Doze technology wherein, Android users will have the ability to manage the device's battery. Doze technology has the capability to put the phone in deep sleep mode upon prolonged inactivity.
As of now, there is no specific detail from Google which confirms the launch date of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Nevertheless, Galaxy and other Android users can wait for the OTA or KIES to be available soon.
