Samsung has confirmed that its Tizen-powered Z3 smartphone will be arriving in Europe soon. This will be the first Tizen-running Samsung smartphone to be sold outside Asia.
Tizen 3.0-powered Samsung Z3 is expected to be released first in Germany, France, United Kingdom, Russia, and Poland. While the first-ever Tizen-powered Samsung smartphone, Z1, was introduced first in India, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The handset carries a model number of SM-Z300H_SWA_DD. Samsung skipped Z2 and went straight to Z3 for some unknown reasons.
Samsung Z3 is likely to bring better hardware to serve as a best showcase for Tizen. It features a 5-inch 720 pixels AMOLED screen, 8GB of internal storage, microSD slot, 1.3GHz quad-core Spreadtrum processor, 2600mAh battery, 1.5 GB of RAM, 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash, and video recording, and 5-megapixel front snapper. Moreover, it will run the new version of Tizen operating system, 3.0, which adds 64-bit support, Internet of Things (IoT) integration, and other features to its predecessor.
Tizen is Samsung's own operating system. It runs on Samsung Z1, a couple of Samsung smartwatches, and now the Z3. The Z1 is said to be not a game-changing device for Samsung, however, it did well in the markets it reached. Thus, Samsung will be releasing a new smartphone powered by its own operating system and hopefully making it big in the market.
According to TizenExperts, Samsung has already started the production of Z3 smartphone at its assembly plant in Noida, India. The South Korean tech giant has been reported to ship assembly parts for an initial 1000 Z3 units to its headquarter.
There are no updates yet about Samsung Z3's official release date and cost, but it could be a low-cost smartphone with mid-range specifications at best. On the whole, Samsung Z3 will definitely be another milestone for Samsung as this device will be released first in European countries.
