The upcoming sequel "Avatar 2" is scheduled to be shown in theaters in 2017 and fans are eager to hear what the sequel of the popular sci-fi movie will be about. And although details have been kept under wraps, rumors have made their way to the Internet.
According to Franchise Herald, Zoe Zaldana revealed in an interview with MTV that she had a glimpse of what "Avatar 2" holds. She even teased that it will likely be more emotional compared to its predecessor.
"It was wonderful. Jim took us and gave us a tour of all the reference pictures, telling us the stories. I haven't been able to read the scripts. They're still working on them. We kind of get choked up. Cameron gets emotional telling us about the story. I get emotional hearing about it, so I'm looking forward to it,"
According to Crossmap, a sequel is indeed in the making and James Cameron has unveiled the technique he'll be using in the upcoming Avatar franchise. He has also started writing the script, and interestingly, he's working with a team of writers.
Sadly for the fans, New York Post reported that Michelle Rodriguez will not be joining the next installment. She said that Cameron didn't ask her to appear in the sequel of the hit film.
"They're bringing back a lot of other characters. I know [Sigourney Weaver's] coming back and the guy who played the bad guy, [Stephen Lang], is coming back," said Rodriguez. "But yeah, I'm not gonna be in it."
Rodriguez is best known for the catchphrase "I see you," which has become iconic in the film.
As for the story line, Movie News Guide reported that Cameron will be keeping the environment theme. He was quoted saying, "We're making up an ocean ecosystem for Pandora. That's gonna have less to do with the deep exploration that I've done than it has to do with my concerns about conservation of Earth's oceans. The fact that we're basically overfishing, climate change... a few degrees of temperature rise are gonna basically take out the coral reefs. All those beautiful images of the coral environments we all grew up with won't exist in 50 years at the rate we're going in terms of pumping greenhouse gases into the environment. These are the things that concern me."
The latest updates for "Avatar 2" include Zoe Zaldana revealing in an interview that she has a glimpse of what the film holds, while Michelle Rodriguez is reportedly not coming back for the sequel. It's scheduled for release sometime in 2017.
