‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Updates: Moving past the first installment’s $32.5M opening; cast talk about WCKD, surviving the Scorch

This weekend's box office should spur up, thanks to Fox's "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials." Deadline reported that it should move past the first installment's $32.5M opening last year at this time.

The film has already opened in overseas markets, surpassing the first by 40 percent. And despite that percentage increase as something that is not expected to happen domestically, the second installment could probably end the three-day weekend between $34M-$36M.

In related news, MTV caught up with the actual cast of the film and talked about how wicked the WCKD (World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department) - the organization that is revealed to be in-charge of the titular maze - is.

"I think it's not that simple," Kaya Scodelario explained. "That's what Teresa is trying to explore. It's a bigger picture. I don't think she necessarily believes in good and bad, as black and white as everyone else does."

On the other hand, the rest of the cast, who have a far less "complicated relationship with the said organization in the film, said that it's all about the Gladers, who did their best to stop WCKD's devious-seeming plans for them all throughout the film.

"They're fighting for the truth," franchise newcomer Rosa Salazar said. "I'm not going to be a cog in the machine. I'm not gonna just follow someone who is doing horrible things."

"The Gladers are all about finding a cure, but finding it in the right way, and not having to extinct a whole... generation," Dexter Darden continued.

Lead star Dylan O'Brien, however, is just extremely happy with the fact that the movie keeps viewers guessing.

"I love that throughout the entire series, you go so back and forth... being convinced that WCKD is one way or the other," he said. "It's not black and white, and that's the way the world is."

Meanwhile, Comingsoon.net released a video in which the cast of the second Maze Runner installment talked about surviving the Scorch.

"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" can be seen in 2D, 3D and IMAX theaters on September 18.
