HTC One M7 is among the flagship phones of the tech firm expected to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow's official over the air (OTA) rollout which is slated to start later this month. Being one of the manufacturers to announce the release, will HTC release Marshmallow as it debuts later this month?
HTC One M7 was officially announced by HTC executive Mo Versi that it will soon be getting Android 6.0. Versi took Twitter in August in response to a querying fan asking when the Sense 7.0 UI would come. The executive assured fans to receive the latest user interface when Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes out. Late last month, another HTC executive Jeff Gordon confirmed in a statement the good news saying that recent models will first receive the new software.
Aside from HTC phones, brands in the waiting list for Marshmallow are LG, Samsung, Sony and Motorola. Google has used some Nexus devices for the developer preview of the update.
Meanwhile, mobile networks have also been reported to have been busy preparing for the update, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is expected to bring in new features and several improvements from Lollipop, including Android Pay, support for USB Type-C and fingerprint sensor, app links, enhanced app permissions and so much more.
Android Pay is a card-less mobile operating system which will replace Google Wallet. It uses both NFC and host card emulation method. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint and Verizon are expected to pioneer this technology. Chrome tabs can now be made personalized by adding web views and more customizations with theme and fonts.
Meanwhile, app links allow directing to other software, app, sites, using a link from a certain location. Support for fingerprint sensor wills strengthen run of Android Pay while the USB Type-C support will enable users devise all-in ports.
