While owners of Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 were enraged by AT&T and Sprint for delay of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, chances now are getting close to reality. New reports tell that the mobile networks are indeed releasing the final Lollipop software version very soon.
Sprint and AT&T have been the only major mobile network in the United States to deliver the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update to Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 units. T-Mobile, US Cellular and Verizon Wireless already paved the way since August until the first week of September.
Previous news already told that Samsung's supersized flagship smartphones will be receiving the Lollipop update before the Android 6.0 Marshmallow later this month. Enraged owners turned to a community forum on AT&T regarding the overdue rollout, while some still managed to gain composure and stayed hopeful for the update.
Sprint last updated their units last August 24 with Samsung Pay, live broadcasting via Youtube, high quality audio (with Samsung headsets), user interface updates, and Android security patches. Android 5.1.1 Lollipop brings new features and enhancements in Material Design, more notification controls, device sharing, and device syncing.
1. Material Design. Enjoy a more colorful and fresh new look and feel. Lollipop brings in more fluid animations along with improved apps and personalization options like colors, widgets and themes.
2. Device syncing. Apps, song, photos and even recent searches from one Android device can be accessed fully across all other Android devices.
3. Device sharing. Sharing device can now be done more securely through guest user mode. Create multiple user accounts to allow friends to access device to prevent them from accessing owner's private files. With Android Smart Lock, secure device by pairing it with trusted device like any wearable or even car.
4. Notification controls. Worry less because with the new notification controls, users can now adjust settings to sift people and notifications go get through. Users can also directly respond from lock screen when it is important.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will come via firmware over-the-air (FOTA) release and in stages; it may take to some units on a later date. If prompted that an update is available, follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
