The action-thriller "Edge of Tomorrow" starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt was certainly an underappreciated action movie classic, and now fans are dying for the planned sequel.
The 53-year-old Cruise appears to be pushing for a sequel of the said movie. In an interview with MTV, he mentioned the possibility of an "Edge of Tomorrow 2" and that he already had an idea what it's going to be like.
"I pitched it to [screenwriter Christopher] McQuarrie and [director] Doug [Liman]. We were there one night and I was like, I've got an idea for it," he said.
Although he didn't say what the idea exactly was, he was able to talk to co-star Emily Blunt about it.
"It could be so much fun. Gotta get Emily. I was like "Emily, please." She was like, "Give me another year, please."
It's safe to say that the third part of the holy trinity is missing, thus Cruise's words: "Gotta Get Emily"
In related news, Blunt spoke out to Uproxx regarding her hesitation with regards to a follow-up to the 2014 time-bending sci-fi thriller.
"I would for sure! But the idea would have to be good; it would just have to be a great idea. I don't want to dilute how great the first one is with a second one that's not as good. I'm terrified of sequels, to be honest with you."
Cinema Blend explained that despite Blunt's statement which sounds a bit hesitant, it doesn't necessarily kill the possibility of an "Edge of Tomorrow" sequel. Fans would just have to hope that both Cruise and McQuarrie come up with something spectacular in order to have her onboard.
On the other hand, Anime News Network reported that the manga (All You Need is Kill) which the movie was based on is getting a sequel. Novelist Hiroshi Sakurazaka revealed that he has started working on the follow-up.
