Legendary F1 racing driver Michael Schumacher continues to recuperate years after his devastating skiing accident in 2013. Family, fan,s and loyal supporters stay hopeful and remain optimistic of the 46-year old sports icon's recovery. A Ferrari FXX exclusively signed by Schumacher himself is up for auction.
The F1 legend continues his battle for recovery after years of rehabilitation following a major head injury caused by a skiing accident in the French Alps in late December of 2013. According to The Telegraph, he had since been lifted from a medically induced coma and showed signs of progress including facial recognition of close family. No further details of his improvement have been reported as of late.
His wife Corinna with their children Gina-Marie and Mick have been with him with a team of specialist nurses and doctors through every step of his recovery. His manager Sabine Khem specifically requested the general public to respect the privacy of his family and avoid rumors regarding the state of his health. A special website dedicated to the F1 champion, www.michael-schumacher.com has recently been relaunched so fans can continue their support for their real life hero.
According to Motor Authority, a Ferrari FXX 29/30 bearing the signature of Schumacher will be auctioned off on September 26 in Berlin, Germany and is expected to fetch not lower than $2.3 million. It was reported that the track-only model would have cost around $3 million back in 2006. Another model, the FXX 30/30 in black, was built especially for Schumacher.
Schumacher is one of the greatest names in Formula One racing history. He is a seven-time Formula One World Champion specifically for the years 1994, 1995, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. Throughout his storied career where he was also named Laureus World Sportsman of the Year twice - his first entry was in the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix while his last was in the 2012 Brazilian Grand Prix - he earned 91 wins in total.
