'Transformers 5' may take itself to a whole new level in a never-before-done move to feature dual storylines occurring simultaneously. The planned cinematic universe under Paramount Pictures continues to be in the works and may feature spin-offs for characters like Bumblebee.
Ahead of the planned cinematic release for the fifth installment in the movie franchise, several speculations of its plot developments have risen. According to one article by Slash Film, the upcoming film may feature dual storylines incorporating the return of Mark Wahlberg's Cade Yeager and Optimus Prime's journey out in space. The two are said to occur simultaneously throughout the film.
It was reported by Screen Crush that the main human protagonist Cade Yeager will be teaming up with Dinobots and Autobots to defend planet Earth and the rest of humanity from new attackers. Optimus Prime will also be taken to space in an attempt to find Quintessons - a race of overlords that created Autobots and Decepticons.
In another article by Movie News Guide, it was further reported that Paramount Pictures is currently in the works to negotiate a deal sealing the fate of a planned cinematic universe for the popular franchise. It was said that as many as 12 sequels have already been pitched by the studio, including character spin-offs of characters such as Bumblebee.
'Transformers' producer Akiva Goldsman said, "We're trying to beg, borrow and steal from the best of them, and gathered a group of folks interested in developing and broadening this franchise. There is a central corridor of movies that has been proceeding quite well, but our challenge will be to answer, where do we go from here?"
'Transformers 5' is an upcoming science-fiction action film set to be released some time in 2017. It will be follow-up to the preceding film 'Transformers: Age of Extinction' that starred Wahlberg as well as Ken Watanabe, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer and John DiMaggio among others. It remains unclear whether Michael Bay will be returning as director or if he will just stay on as producer for the sequel.
