ABC's Nashville will launch its fourth season next week, bringing with it the answer to season three's big cliffhanger. The musical soap ended last season with Deacon and his sister, Beverly, going through a liver transplant and the final minutes left viewers with someone flatlining while on surgery.
While the result is still a mystery, series star Connie Britton, who plays Deacon's love interest Rayna, has offered a brief tease about this storyline.
"Rayna's love life is going to become very clear within the first five minutes of the first episode," the actress has revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
On Juliette Barnes' orbit, ABC has shared that the singer will find herself in one of the highest moments of her career. Not only will she be performing a duet of "Crazy" with special guest star Steven Tyler, she'll also be busy with her starring role in the Patsy Cline bio-pic. However, things on her personal and romantic life will be heading the opposite direction. From the way it ended between her and Avery last season, the two have a lot of hurdle to surpass in the upcoming episodes.
The musical soap's third run will also delve on a different relationship dynamic between Rayna and Juliette as the latter tries to break her contract with Highway 65. Showrunner Dee Johnson explained this shift in a recent interview with TV Line.
"Given where we left them... I think that those two will always have kind of a weird connection. But it's not a stretch to say that it doesn't go well. [Laughs]," the executive producer commented.
Nashville's third season premiere titled "Can't Let Go" will feature guest stars including Eric Close, Oliver Hudson, and David Alford among others. The episode was directed by creator/showrunner Callie Khouri. Catch it air on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd on ABC.
